Pyle:Mutations came to life with the use of pouring paint and the frottage technique on an un-stretched canvas, resulting in instinctual paint gestures. Subsequently, deliberate and more conscious actions were added in contrasting tempos, blending fast-paced, careless strokes with meticulous, detailed ones in other areas.
As the painting took form, these conscious movements started resembling organic forms inhabiting a realm that bridges the gap between the familiar and the otherworldly.
The canvas was later cut, stitched, and reassembled in three distinct parts, creating gaps that disrupted the traditional flat image and instilled sculptural qualities into the piece.
